Content Policy

Creative Thinking Network Content Policy

Welcome to the Creative Thinking Network (CTN)! We’re here to empower educators worldwide through community, collaboration, and knowledge to amplify creative thinking in any classroom.

Our Content Policy are designed to create a positive, safe, and engaging experience for everyone. These guidelines apply to all members and content on our platform. They include rules for what is allowed on CTN and standards for community behavior. We continuously update these guidelines to address new challenges and ensure a positive environment.

Thank you for keeping CTN a welcoming space for all educators!

Our Mission
At CTN, our mission is to empower educators worldwide through community, collaboration, and knowledge to amplify creative thinking in any classroom.

Our Vision
Our vision is to build a global community of educators dedicated to making creative thinking a core part of every classroom.

Content Moderation
Maintaining a safe, trustworthy, and vibrant community requires balancing creative expression with preventing harm. We use a combination of approaches to achieve this balance:

  • Remove content that we do not allow: Everyone who joins CTN can freely share content. However, we will remove any content that violates our guidelines, whether posted publicly or privately.
  • Prohibited content: Political content, spam, and anything that violates our Terms of Service or Privacy Notice are not allowed on CTN.
  • Report inappropriate content: If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, please report it to us for review.

What We Encourage
We encourage our members to share content that fosters creativity and collaboration, including:

  • Innovative teaching methods
  • Creative classroom activities
  • Success stories and positive experiences
  • Resources and collaboration opportunities

Enforcement
We enforce our guidelines with a human-run review team, supported by algorithms to flag potential spam. If you violate our guidelines:

  • Your content will be removed, and you’ll receive a direct message (DM) explaining why.
  • After three strikes, you may find yourself banned from the platform.

Moderating Principles
In order to ensure the Creative Thinking Network is grounded in creativity, we have created moderating principles to ensure the balance between harm prevention and expression. These principals help shape our decisions when it comes to content enforcement, an often difficult practice. Content not allowed on CTN includes harmful, political, or spam content, as well as any material that violates our Terms of Service or Privacy Notice by infringing on intellectual property, jeopardizing members’ well-being, suppressing others’ ability to contribute, or disrespecting privacy and confidentiality.

Based on the International Bill of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Santa Clara Principles, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we at the Creative Thinking Network have written 5 principles to guide our content enforcement decisions, as follows:

  • Promote a Safe and Supportive Environment
  • At CTN, our top priority is ensuring a safe and nurturing space for educators. We aim to protect our community from any form of harm. Content and behavior that may jeopardize the well-being of our members will be managed with care, balancing safety with the freedom to express innovative ideas.
  • Encourage Creative Expression
  • Creative thinking drives our community. We encourage educators to share their unique ideas and classroom experiences. While we support open dialogue and creativity, we also ensure that content does not suppress others’ ability to contribute. Expression is encouraged, but it must be balanced with respect for others, privacy, and adherence to our community standards.
  • Foster Respectful and Constructive Interaction
  • Respect and civility are fundamental to a thriving community. We expect all members to engage with one another respectfully and professionally. Constructive feedback and professional critique are welcomed as long as they are delivered thoughtfully. Negative or disruptive interactions that hinder productive discussion will be addressed.
  • Champion Inclusivity
  • We are committed to creating an inclusive platform where all educators feel valued and respected. CTN celebrates diverse cultures, identities, and viewpoints. We work actively to remove barriers and ensure equitable opportunities for participation, focusing on creating a welcoming space for everyone.
  • Safeguard Privacy and Confidentiality
  • Protecting the privacy of our members is crucial. All content shared on CTN must respect individuals’ privacy and confidentiality. We are dedicated to ensuring that no personal information is disclosed without consent and that all members’ dignity is upheld.

These principles are informed by legal frameworks, research, peer review, and industry best practices.
